Care Assistant

Part Time 32.5 hours per week, term time only

Salary: Grade 2, Spinal Column Points 2-4 £22,366 - £23,114 (£17,200 - £17,775 pro rata)

Contract: Fixed term to start 1st September 2024 until the end of the 24/25 academic year

Holgate Primary and Nursery School are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, caring, motivated and highly committed Care Assistant to join us in working alongside a professional, supportive and hard-working school and collaboration team.

The successful applicant will need to be an excellent team player who is able to demonstrate good communication skills and flexibility in supporting our pupils, staff and parents. Experience of working within an education, health, care or SEN setting would be desirable, however, full training will be provided for the right candidates.

We are looking for a Care Assistant:

  • Who is patient and caring, and willing to work as part of a team with parents and other practitioners.
  • Who will assist pupils with a variety of needs, to support in all aspects of their learning and care.
  • Who is able to follow instructions but also work by using their own initiative.
  • Who has some understanding of child development and supporting children’s behaviour.
  • Who will share responsibility for key children and be responsible for their care.
  • Who will support children who at times find learning difficult.
  • Who can be creative and ‘think on their feet’.

Relief Midday Supervisor

Contract: Relief 

Hours: As and when required to cover up to a two-hour shift between 11.30am and 1.30pm

Salary: NJE Grade 1 Spinal Column Point 2 (£22,366) pro rata. £12.99 per hour (inclusive of WTD)

We are looking for someone to join our school team to work as a Relief Midday Supervisor alongside the Senior Midday Supervisor, to supervise and support children both in the dining area and in play areas to ensure the orderly conduct, welfare and safety of pupils during school lunch breaks.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hardworking, team player.

The person we need will:

  • Be reliable, positive, organised and flexible.
  • Ensure that the overall arrangement for children to dine promotes an orderly and pleasant meals service.
  • Be able to supervise children’s activities and behaviour, ensuring their safety and wellbeing, providing emotional support where necessary.
  • Be approachable and possess good interpersonal skills.
