The nursery children have had lots of fun learning about Pancake Day. We started the day with a story called ‘Mr Wolf’s Pancakes’ and learnt that to make his pancakes correctly he needed to follow a recipe and use the ingredients of flour, eggs and milk. We had a go at making our own pancake mixture and watched the changes that occurred to the different ingredients as they were stirred together. We then got to try some yummy pancakes with different toppings – Some children liked jam but others liked lemon and sugar. We also learnt that Pancake day is also called Shrove Tuesday and is the day before Lent – when Christians give something up for a few weeks before Easter such as chocolate or sweets
