Creativity

This essential skill is all about generating innovations or ideas which can then be honed through the problem-solving process.

Initially, individuals use their imagination to imagine different possibilities, share and express them, and create ideas when given a simple prompt.

Next, individuals apply their creativity to suggest improvements, combine concepts, identify opportunities for innovation, and develop success criteria.

Then, individuals explore creative thinking more deeply by challenging their own assumptions, reflecting critically, seeking perspectives, and prototyping ideas to develop them further.

Finally, individuals drive creativity more widely by incubating ideas, curiously seeking out new ideas and opportunities, and facilitating and championing creativity and innovation more widely.

 

Building the skill of problem solving

Every Monday, ideas are shared on the school’s Class Dojo story for how to develop the focus skill of the half term. Ideas to develop problem solving could include:

Open ended art box .Provide paper, cardboard, tape, glue, recycled materials, crayons, and paint.

 

- Create a collage creation using old magazines, newspaper, fabric scraps and packaging.

 

- Use play dough, clay, salt dough or foil to create a sculpture.

 

- Use household clothes and accessories to invent a character and act out a scene.

 

- Move like different animals, weather types, or imaginary creatures.

 

- Draw and record interesting things seen from a window or in the garden.

-One person starts a story and each person adds to it using "Yes, and..."

 

-Pick an everyday object and think of 10 unusual uses for it.
