Y5 were very privileged to welcome Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance to discuss careers in their field and how they can help people in need. We discovered that the air ambulance can reach anywhere in Nottinghamshire or Lincolnshire within 20 minutes and can fly 7am - 2am. In 2023, the service went on 1771 life saving missions averaging 4 missions per day. Did you know that each life saving mission costs the Air Ambulance (which is a charity) £4000 and that the charity need to raise on average £10 million per year to keep going?

We learnt that jobs within the Air Ambulance include pilots, HEMS doctors, HEMS paramedics, fundraisers, 999 call handlers on the HEMS desk, patient family liaison officers, many volunteers and many more roles!
